Morro Bay BEAUTIFUL is seeking to identify artists and/or artist teams, interested in developing site-specific public artwork. 

A total of 10 art opportunities will be available in Phase 2 of this project, with the artist creating a work of art on a city trash container. The Art will beocation at a specific time and date (to be announced

Members of the Project committee of Morro Bay BEAUTIFUL may participate in this project.

 

The Schedule

The placement of completed containers is slated for (to be announced).  Artists who apply for this project must be available to work consistently and efficiently, and finish the public artwork by the ending date.

Deadline for Submission  ASAP

Artist Selection 30 days after submission

Artist Notification within 2 days of approval

Artwork installation (Date to be announced)

Payment of Artist Stipend (15 days after completion)

APPLICATION:

One complete application must include:

1. This completed APPLICATION SLIP.

2. Resume, one page maximum. Artist teams must submit one resume per team member.

3. Two Pictures of past art work plus a color drawing of the proposed Art Can picture.

    Only the approved artwork can be   used on the Art Can.

5. Description and inspiration to explain the  picture to be used.

 

 What bird you will be depicting?

 Artist must be willing to sign a waiver of liability by Morro Bay Beautiful for any insurance claims.

Do not include additional materials in your application—they will not be reviewed.

 

DEADLINE: ASAP

Completed applications must be postmarked

by the U.S. Post Office, UPS, Federal Express, or similar delivery

service.   Morro Bay BEAUTIFUL strongly recommends obtaining proof of mailing.

Artist Stipend

Each installed art design will receive a stipend totaling $350.00 all-inclusive and is intended to cover the costs of design, fabrication, materials, insurance,  installation and clean-up. 

Artists who work in any media are encouraged to apply.

RIGHTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Morro Bay BEAUTIFUL reserves the right to decline all submissions, cancel this Request for Proposal or cancel any qualified list, at any time. This RFP is subject to Equal Benefits Ordinances.

Selected designs become the property of Morro Bay BEAUTIFUL.  Artist releases the copyrights of the design. Morro Bay BEAUTIFUL may use this design at any time and for any reason. This includes promotion and marketing efforts.

The Mission Statement of MORRO BAY BEAUTIFUL, a 501 ( c ) 3, is…To identify, research, and promote nonpolitical projects that contribute to and or preserve the beauty of Morro Bay and add beauty to its citizen’s lives.

Selection Process

This is a local call to professional artists and/or art teams residing along the Central Coast. Artists should demonstrate the professional capacity to oversee the design, fabrication and installation of artwork for public places. Artists must be available to execute the design/project per schedule.  Designs must comply with the Project’s Theme, must be in compliance with all city codes, and be safe. The Artist must be available for multiple meetings, as needed, for review and final design approval. Up to 10 designs will be selected from this public call. The proposals will be reviewed by the “Art Can Committee”. This panel will select one design per artist/artist team, for a total of 10 designs and 10 participating artists/teams.
